Time to look forward says Cannan
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan is on his feet in Tynwald delivering his first budget speech.
He has already indicated that the time to look back is over saying eight years have past since the aftershocks of the renegotiated VAT deal.
Mr Cannan says the needs of spreadsheets should be placed in the past and the needs of society come first.
And he revealed a windfall from income tax and national insurance receipts during the past year:-
One million pounds is being set aside for a new Brexit Fund, the Treasury minister has announced.
The money will be used to fund projects and resources which may be needed for issues arising from the United kingdom's departure from the European Union.
