MHK questions whether this is causing 'motivational issues'
An MHK has questioned whether some bus drivers on the Isle of Man have been left feeling like ‘third class citizens’ because of the number of different employment contracts in place.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew representative Jason Moorhouse told the infrastructure minister he was concerned it could be causing ‘motivational issues’.
His questions follow a prolonged period of disruption on the public transport network.
Bus Vannin employees currently work under three contracts.
Nineteen full time drivers, and four part time drivers, are employed under ‘old terms’.
Forty-four full time staff are employed on ‘new old terms’ and there are 22 full time, and 10 part time drivers, employed under ‘new terms for new starters’.
Drivers earn the same basic hourly pay but different rates of overtime.
However Tim Crookall said he didn’t see any issue with some drivers still being on old contracts saying it works for the DoI:
