Boss of imprisoned key workers wants others to avoid same error
Clear and simple messaging on the boat and at the sea terminal about the self-isolation rules and key worker requirements may lead to a reduction in prosecutions.
That's the view of the boss of the five Haigh Rail employees who were sent to prison last week for going to Tesco, rather than straight to their hotel after arriving on the ferry.
Michael Downing says they knew the rules in advance and made a mistake, which may not have happened if there had been a final reminder.
Home Affairs Minister Graham Cregeen admits he's disappointed by the number of recent cases where people have breached Covid-19 self-isolation regulations.
Mr Cregeen says, in the case of key workers, the instructions on what they can and can't do are made clear before they travel to the Island:
