Third sector chief calls for living wage
A third sector spokesman has called on the Treasury Minister to give more help to those who are 'just about managing' in this morning's budget.
Chairman of the Council of Voluntary Organisations, David Gawne, says many Manx households are feeling the pinch - and use of services like the Food Bank is on the rise.
He says moves such as increasing the living wage could ease the strain.
The UK Chancellor, Philip Hammond, pledged to help so-called 'JAMs' in last year's Autumn Statement, by way of a billion pound U-turn on benefits cuts and an increase in the National Living Wage.
Mr Gawne says it's a stance we should be echoing here in the Island:
