An MLC is calling for a new approach to the way the Isle of Man measures its success.
Rob Mercer raised the point in this week's Tynwald sitting which approved changes to the Economic Strategy.
As part of that, government has an ambition to grow the population to 100,000 by 2037 and reach a GDP of £10 billion by 2032.
Mr Mercer says the approach New Zealand takes - which includes happiness and wellbeing as part of the measure - should be considered.
