Head of Ambulance Service speaks to Manx Radio on International Paramedics Day
Attracting paramedics to work on the Isle of Man is becoming ‘increasingly difficult’ due to the lack of on-Island training opportunities.
That’s the view of the head of the ambulance service who says he’d like to develop educational pathways locally.
Today marks the first International Paramedics Day – its aim is to recognise, and celebrate, the work carried out by paramedics and first responders around the world.
Will Bellamy told Manx Radio three new paramedics have recently taken up posts with Manx Care which goes some way to filling vacant positions:

So as the Island’s paramedics, and wider ambulance team, are celebrated both near and far for putting the wellbeing and interests of others first what is it that makes the job so rewarding?
