Push continues for admission of 'inappropriate' death by misadventure verdict
The chief minister's apology for the failings that led to the Summerland fire almost 50 years ago has been welcomed by a campaign group.
The Apologise for Summerland Campaign says it is 'so pleased' by Alfred Cannan's statement, which acknowledged the 'pain and suffering' caused.
Members say they will continue to campaign, on behalf of the bereaved, for a public admission that the 'death by misadventure' verdict was inappropriate.
The fiftieth anniversary of the disaster, which claimed fifty lives and seriously injured eighty, will be marked on 2 August.
