Chris Martin hopes the 'Safer Surfaces-Safer Spaces' will bring confidence to residents

A Ramsey Commissioner is starting a campaign to try and improve the pavements, paths and highways in the town.

Chris Martin says the 'Safer Surfaces - Safer Spaces' project will aim to encourage residents to report issues, including overgrown hedges and potholes, to make the town more accessible.

The local authority is asking people to report issues to the staff at the library, and they will collect all the responses before sending them to the Department of Infrastructure.

Mr Martin took on the scheme after canvassing residents for the by-election and was told that people have fallen off mobility scooters and those with prosthetics can struggle on uneven surfaces.
