Data revealed in mortality rate report
Cancer remains the primary cause of death on the Isle of Man.
That was one of the figures revealed in a report, about mortality rates and causes of death on the Island over a 12-year period.
The Mortality Report 2017 shows there were 836 deaths registered that year - 409 men and 427 women.
Life expectancy at birth stood at 79.4 years for men and 83 for women.
More than 40% of the deaths in 2017 were at home, with 57% caused by either cancer or diseases of the circulatory system.
The report contains lots of comparisons to other jurisdictions using age standardised mortality rates, which takes into account population size and age range.
That measure currently likens the Isle of Man to areas of 'Country Living' or 'Prosperous Towns' in the Midlands.
