Broken holder causes blaze
There's been a warning about candle safety, following a house fire in Kirk Michael.
Firefighters in the village were called at around 6.30pm yesterday (Sunday), where they found a large candle holder had shattered, spilling and igniting flammable wax.
The flames were contained with only minimal damage.
The Fire and Rescue Service is reminding homeowners to keep candles well apart, in a proper holder - and never to leave them burning.
In a separate incident, officers also attended a smoke-logged flat on Broadway in Douglas, where residents had been evacuated.
The cause of that was found to be a grill pan.
