Health minister discusses why amendment should be included in Bill
The Capacity Bill 2022 is set to go before the House of Keys for approval.
The bill allows someone to make important life decisions on behalf of a person who is unable to make or communicate their own decisions.
One amendment made by MLC Rob Mercer allows the Department of Health and Social Care to make a charge for processing complaints against someone, who holds decision-making power over another.
Health Minister Lawrie Hooper was asked whether this will deter people from flagging potential wrongdoing:
Majority of whistleblowing cases against DOI relate to health and safety concerns
Disruption for motorists in Kewaigue area from Monday
Man who sexually assaulted sleeping woman jailed
2025 a 'record year' for SPC
More than £5000 raised for life-saving heart screenings
