
The man who led the Island to put on an acclaimed Commonwealth Youth Games has joined an elite group with a unique honour to their name.
Geoff Karran MBE has been given the Freedom of the Borough of Douglas, as a tribute to his years of charitable and community work.
Geoff Karran spearheaded the Games organising committee for seven years in the run up to last year's event.
He helped create Centre 21 in Douglas, a major resource for people with disabilities.
He's chairman of several Manx charities and a host of sports and community groups.
All that after a successful career as a barrister in Douglas.
At a ceremony in the Council Chamber at Douglas town hall, he was presented with a specially-commissioned vellum, reflecting his many achievements.
