William Christian has held the role since 1981
The captain of the parish of Bride has decided to step down from the role after more than 40 years in the post.
William Christian was sworn in in 1981, succeeding his father.
The Lieutenant Governor says he's reluctantly accepted Mr Christian's resignation, adding that he's held the position with commitment, dedication to duty and dignity.
A new captain of the parish will be appointed in due course; nominations can be submitted to the chief of staff at Government House by emailing hilary.leece@gov.im.
