MNH plans to move bust to a 'more befitting' spot
The bust of an historic 18th century Manx seafarer could soon be greeting Costa Coffee customers in Castletown, if plans are approved.
A bid has been submitted to relocate the statue of Captain John Quilliam from its current location at the Speaker's Garden by Castle Rushen, to the area outside the coffee shop.
Manx National Heritage wants to place the bust in a spot 'more befitting' the historic figure, in terms of the proximity to the harbour, and with views of Castletown Bay.
It was sculpted by Bryan Kneale MBE to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar in 2005.
You can view the plans for the busts' relocation online (planning app no: 19/00679/B).
