Castletown brass issues dry response to music ban
Castletown Festival went ahead last night, in spite of a last-minute ban on noisy entertainment.
The organisers of the annual event were forced, for the first time in 61 years, to shut off all music after 6pm - after police told them they were in breach of licensing laws.
Entertainment planned for the evening was moved forward to the afternoon, but fireworks and a confetti parade went ahead as normal.
Footage of a tongue-in-cheek 'protest', which saw the Castletown Silver Band marching down the street without playing their instruments, has already amassed thousands of views online:
