Work still to get underway to remove old equipment
Castletown Commissioners has confirmed the children's play area at the bowling green will not be re-opened in time for the summer holidays.
The local authority says it has reviewed the proposed replacement programme set out by the previous board but believes there has not been 'adequate progression' of removing the old equipment to make room for new items.
It claims the delay is due to a 'combination of factors' and that there is a 'significant' amount of work to be carried out before a new facility can be installed at The Crofts.
The commissioners added that the 'inherited situation' is 'regrettable' but is looking to advance the installation and upgrading of the play area as soon as possible.
In a statement in added: "In the meantime, the town’s main children’s play area, which is located within Poulsom Park continues to be available for the enjoyment of the children and their families.
"The commissioners have recently initiated some improvement works to improve the appearance of the play area within Poulsom Park."
