The local authority said it's paying for installation

A new statue of a heron which has been installed in Castletown today has cost ratepayers £2,000.

Castletown Commissioners have confirmed the majority of the preparatory work and delivery to the site has been funded by non-profit organisation Creative Network.

Its costs are 'directly associated' with professional services needed for planning its installation and the equipment used to put the statue in the town's harbour.

The artwork will be formally given to the town in a handover 'ceremony' soon.
