
Castletown MHK Richard Ronan has welcomed the licensing court's decision to reject Tesco's latest application for an alcohol licence.
He says it is in the best interests of the town's people to not have another place selling alcohol, as it has a smaller population than Port Erin, but twice as many outlets selling alcohol and twice as much crime
At the latest hearing this week great emphasis was placed on the evidence of the Island's deputy director of public health, Dr Paul Emerson.
He spoke about the health and social impacts of alcohol misuse, and Mr Ronan says that's something he's keen to follow up on:
