Officers stretched dealing with serious incidents
Police say yesterday (Sat) was "a very challenging day" for them, with several road accidents and the fatal helicopter crash near the 33rd milestone
Air Accident Investigators made it to the island yesterday evening, after the Steam Packet made special provision for them on the already crowded ferries.
The pilot of the helicopter was named last night as 48 year old Matthew Chapman from Louth in Lincolnshire.
He lost his life after his Bell Jetranger helicopter came down in open fields just after 9am.
But Inspector Derek Flint says for police officers the morning had only just begun.
