New rates will come into effect from 1 October
A five per cent increase to the Isle of Man's minimum wage rates will come into effect in October.
The single hourly rate will increase to £8.25, and those above compulsory school-leaving age but under 18 will be paid £6.15 per hour.
Also, the proposed 'Development Worker' rate - for people undertaking formal training within the first six months of employment - will be increased to £7.30 an hour.
The changes were unanimously approved by Tynwald this week, going on recommendations from the Minimum Wage Committee's annual report.
During the debate, it was pointed out that the Isle of Man was behind the UK in terms of what government pays out at this level.
