Changes to TT parking provision

Cars to now park at St George's

There's going to be a change this year for TT fans wishing to park at the Grandstand, Paddock and Fan Park.

Noble's Park will now only be open to motorcyclists, blue badge holders, and those with hospitality tickets or designated passes.

Meanwhile, fans arriving in their car will be asked to park on a new site in St George's, by police headquarters.

TT organisers say it follows a decision by Douglas Council to reduce the amount of space in Noble's Park they are permitted to use.

A statement from the organisers says: 'All vehicle parking will remain free to use and with a temporary traffic management system in place, visitors in cars wishing to access St George’s Car Park are advised to do so by following the route along Victoria Road, turning up Victoria Avenue before continuing left onto Upper Dukes Street and then turning right into Dukes Avenue.

'Visitors in cars planning to use St George’s Car Park should be aware that there will be no access to Dukes Avenue via Glencrutchery road, as this section of the road will be closed throughout the duration of the TT with access retained for Police Vehicle access only.

'Noble’s Park will operate as a Motorcycle and permit-only Car Park. Permitted car access will include Blue Badge holders, Hospitality ticket holders and a limited number of TT parking pass holders. Permit holders and Motorcycles will be able to access Noble’s Park Car Park via St Ninian’s Road where there will be a dedicated lane in place to minimise queues and the impact on other through traffic along St Ninian’s Road.

'Visitors should be aware that during TT, traffic will be one-way down St Ninian’s Road and will also be one-way on Marathon Drive to ensure a continuous flow of traffic as in previous years.

'Traffic Stewards will also again be on-hand to manage the traffic flow and access to and from both car parks. The Stewards will also be directing visitors to the TT Grandstand and Paddock via the signposted pedestrian walkways.

'The changes to the TT parking follow a decision taken by Douglas City Council, who provide the licence to use Nobles Park placing a reduction on the amount of space in Nobles Park that the organisers are permitted to use and a prohibition on general public car parking at Nobles Park.

'Parking at the TT Grandstand and Paddock complex is as always limited, and visitors are encouraged to use the public transport routes available where this is possible to minimise delays.

'During TT, fans can benefit from the addition of special bus services that run to bring TT fans to iconic locations around the Mountain Course.

'For those wishing to access the TT Grandstand and Paddock complex by bus there is the TT1 service that operates from the South of the Island, in addition to the TT6 and TT3 that commence from Lord Street, Douglas with stops at the TT Grandstand and Paddock Complex on route. These services link to a wider network of connecting routes across the Island.

'A taxi drop off and pick-up point has also been introduced, this will be situated in Noble’s Park and accessible via the traffic flow from St Ninian’s Road.'
