Incident deemed an accident
Prosecutors have dropped charges against a woman whose dog bit a small child.
Trina Mckay of Ard Reayrt in Laxey appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
Prosecution advocate Roger Kane told the court the 62-year-old had been charged with failing to keep her pet under control.
He explained on 11 January she'd been walking in Conrhenny Plantation with friends when her dog attacked the youngster, causing facial injuries.
Mr Kane said at all times the dog had been kept on a lead and the incident happened in a popular dog-walking spot.
He added the dog snapping at the child seemed to have been an accident rather than a failure to control the animal.
After reviewing the evidence, he said he'd concluded there was no realistic prospect of a conviction in the case.
He formally withdrew the charges and Ms Mckay walked free from court.
