Charity ball in Douglas to support air ambulance and neonatal care

Fundraiser aims to raise awareness of life-saving services across the Isle of Man

A charity ball is set to take place in Douglas this evening (2 May) to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service and the Island’s Special Care Baby Unit.

The event will be held at the Empress Hotel bringing together supporters to raise funds and awareness of the specialist care both services provide.

GNAAS delivers emergency medical response, critical care, and air transport across Northern England and the Isle of Man.

The Special Care Baby Unit provides support for premature and unwell newborns, including monitoring, feeding assistance, and treatment.

GNAAS estimates it costs at least £124,000 each year to cover the additional costs of operating on the Isle of Man with the charity’s overall running costs standing around £9.3 million annually.

Teams are able to carry out advanced procedures at the scene of an incident.
