MWDW says litter in the sea is an 'ongoing challenge'
The Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch is calling for a blanket ban on the sale of all helium balloons on the Isle of Man saying ‘there is really no excuse’ for them anymore.
The charity is warning of the dangers they pose to sea creatures if they eat them or find themselves caught up in them.
It’s after they recovered one 17 miles out to sea.
In 2021 the Isle of Man's Office of Fair Trading made it illegal to release helium balloons - however government only deals with issues which directly relate to human health and not animals.
