Island thanked for valued contribution
A charity has helped almost as many people in Africa as the population of the Isle of Man.
Manx man Simon Maddrell is founder and executive director of Excellent Development, which is registered on the Island.
The charity has been supported by the Island for ten years, receiving a total of £600,000 from the Manx people and has helped more than 70,000 Africans.
The money has funded the creation of hundreds of dams, improved sanitation and clean water in Kenya and Mozambique to name but a few.
Mr Maddrell is attending the Tynwald ceremony as an honoured guest, and says the work he does stems from his childhood:
