A vacant ward at Ramsey Cottage Hospital has been transformed to offer new facilities in wound management and podiatry, thanks to a large donation from the hospital's League of Friends.
The charity donated £358,000 for the redevelopment of the hospital's old Andreas ward.
It now houses two podiatry clinic rooms, three wound management rooms and a bariatric treatment room for high-risk patients which will be used by both services.
Work on the new clinic space which also includes office and reception areas, began in April 2012 and involved a number of local contractors and suppliers.
The official opening was performed on Friday (14 June) by the chairman of the League of Friends, Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer.
Health minister David Anderson described the new clinics as offering wonderful new facilities for the benefit of everyone in the Island.
He said the opening marked the latest step in the 'strategic transformation' of Ramsey Cottage Hospital, where a satellite renal unit is due to come online next week.
The podiatry clinic has been relocated from Cummal Mooar residential care home.
