Are we facing an "antibiotic apocalypse"?
The phrase has been used recently by the Chief Medical Officer for England to describe our over dependence on the drugs - whilst the World Health Organization says antibiotic resistance is now one of the biggest threats to global health.
A growing number of infections, including pneumonia and tuberculosis - are becoming harder to treat as the antibiotics used to treat them become less effective.
Chemist Richard G Stead, who founded the company Qures, dedicated to finding new natural ways to fight bacteria, says along with finding new medicines, we also need to educate people to be less dependent on antibiotic products.
GP at Peel medical practice, Dr John Snelling, agrees we're facing a major problem, but says doctors are still over prescribing antibiotics.
