20mph, Local Government (Amendment) Bill and minimum wage all represent 'ongoing clashes'
The chief minister says his latest cabinet reshuffle came as a result of trying to regain public confidence.
Alfred Cannan says ongoing issues like the 20mph rollout, the Local Government (Amendment) Bill and controversial minimum wage changes evidence 'ongoing clashes' between government and society.
Yesterday (19 January), he sacked the treasury and infrastructure ministers, Dr Alex Allinson and Dr Michelle Haywood, replacing them with Chris Thomas and Tim Crookall.
Mr Cannan says he hopes the move will help to 'stop the fighting and move forward in a more measured and sensible manner':
The chief minister also says he believes 'as it stands, the Budget will remain on track'.
With this year's financial plan due to be presented to Tynwald members in a month's time; Mr Cannan told Manx Radio that the focus will be on finding a way to slow down the minimum wage changes.
