Chief Minister Allan Bell has been given a surprising award from a liberal think tank.
CentreForum has named him “Liberal Hero of the Week” for comments he made earlier this month about his views on cannabis.
On its blog, the centre’s research associate Stephen Tall praises Mr Bell for paying attention to evidence-based drugs policy.
Mr Tall, who also edits a leading Liberal Democrat website, says he has named Mr Bell as a hero for his defence of liberalism.
