Statement will be first item in House of Keys
The chief minister will make a statement on the outcome of the Dr Rosalind Ranson employment tribunal this morning.
Alfred Cannan sought permission to speak to the House of Keys after it was revealed the former medical director is set to receive £3.2m in compensation for being unfairly dismissed for whistleblowing.
Mr Cannan's statement will be the first item of business at this week's sitting.
Government initially announced Health Minister Lawrie Hooper would be commenting on the latest developments in the Dr Ranson tribunal in Tynwald once the case has closed.
But on Thursday, the Clerk of Tynwald's office confirmed Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson had given the chief minister permission to make an urgent statement this morning.
Since the tribunal's announcement last week, there have been calls for accountability, while the Manx Labour Party is urging Tynwald to investigate the matter.
This week's sitting of the House of Keys gets underway at 10am - you can follow coverage live on Manx Radio DAB, our AM1368 frequency or through our digital platforms.
