Chief minister to give statement on Ukraine

Statement precedes 17 questions for oral answer

The chief minister will address The House of Keys this morning ( Tuesday 1 March) on the situation in Ukraine.

Mr Cannan has already commented on Manx support but this will be a formal statement to The House.

The situation is  a fast moving one and members will be interested to hear of any initiatives to be taken by the island perhaps in regards to The Finance Sector and the registers of aircraft and shipping.

In recent days Legislative Buildings (the Wedding Cake) has lit up at night in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, something which government says will continue for the foreseeable future.

Of the 17 questions in today's sitting,  seven come from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.

They range from the investment manager tendering process, the investor visa route...(across the water the Home Office has closed its Tier One IVR over opportunities for corrupt elites to access the UK), access to credit cards for some Manx residents and mental wellbeing programmes in schools.

Also, how much will electricity tariffs increase this year and in future years?

Tim Johnson, Ayre and Michael MHK, is concerned over speeding on country roads, while Rushen MHK Michelle Haywood asks about recruitment of science, engineering and maths teachers.

And Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover wants to know about support for films and TV.
