Alfred Cannan says the new body will guide the Island’s approach to artificial intelligence, but offers no clarity on its funding
The Chief Minister has been unable to confirm the cost of setting up a National Office for AI Development and Regulation.
Alfred Cannan also couldn’t say whether the new body would operate independently or within an existing government department.
Speaking at the government conference, he said the office would help government and business work together to shape the Island’s response to artificial intelligence
But when asked by Manx Radio if the plans were costed or simply aspirational, he said only that it would have a "minimal budget":
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper recently criticised the announcement, claiming it feels disconnected from previous plans and light on detail.
