Move to exclude upper chamber
Legislative Council members will shortly be asked to consider whether they should be barred from taking part in the election of the chief minister.
The Council of Ministers (Amendment) Bill would allow only Keys members to be considered and also says the Keys alone would choose someone for the role, not Tynwald as a whole.
After passing through all its stages in the House of Keys, it will now go on to be considered by LegCo.
The bill's mover, Michael MHK Alfred Cannan, says this may add weight to arguments for change in LegCo:
