MHK's dismay at demise of DASH
An MHK claims the confidentiality offered by the Drug Advisory Service and Helpline - DASH - has made it so valued by the community from top to bottom.
It was confirmed this week that DASH is to close, something John Houghton says is ‘another sad day for the Island’.
The charity has been in existence since 1996 but has been in trouble for the last three years after government withdrew annual funding of £100,000.
Whilst acknowledging the government organisation Motiv8 which tackles similar issues, Mr Houghton doesn't believe it will fill the gap left by DASH - which prided itself on providing a confidential service.
