Commissioners says it hopes to have the park open by summer
Castletown Commissioners says the children's play area at the bowling green will remain closed.
The local authority confirmed it won't open until the 'essential refurbishment' and installation of new equipment is completed.
It was expected to be open last summer, but it says after a review of the project the commissioners believe the previous year's budget allocation was 'inadequate'.
The board says that more play equipment has been ordered, including swings, for the redeveloped play area and it's hoping to have the park open this summer.
The commissioners confirmed it has allocated additional funding within this year's budget to cover the estimated cost of the works and has employed professional services to progress the scheme.
It also says it's 'extremely disappointed' that the project hasn't progressed as quickly as hoped but adds the scheme is a 'top priority'.
