Dismay as minority aspiration quashed
Incidents of police brutality during the latest Catalan independence referendum were astonishing and like a 're-run' of history.
That's according to the Celtic League's Bernard Moffatt, who says many hoped Western governments would use dialogue rather than intimidation to resolve political disputes.
National police were filmed attacking members of the Catalan public during the vote - some using banned rubber bullets.
A UN-accredit NGO, the League had condemned the Spanish government prior to Sunday's events for its 'tactics of fear'.
Mr Moffatt told Manx Radio the situation was shocking:
Inquest into death of Crosby man concluded following crash on Whitebridge Road
No plans to make it mandatory for cyclists to wear a helmet
Water mains work to affect Peel homes' water supply overnight
Government publishes 'Child First Policy'
