Dismay as minority aspiration quashed
Incidents of police brutality during the latest Catalan independence referendum were astonishing and like a 're-run' of history.
That's according to the Celtic League's Bernard Moffatt, who says many hoped Western governments would use dialogue rather than intimidation to resolve political disputes.
National police were filmed attacking members of the Catalan public during the vote - some using banned rubber bullets.
A UN-accredit NGO, the League had condemned the Spanish government prior to Sunday's events for its 'tactics of fear'.
Mr Moffatt told Manx Radio the situation was shocking:

Some pubs to stay open for early-hours England match
Tynwald to revisit rates bill after the election
Douglas Council to install temporary play area in Marine Gardens
First risk assessment on proliferation financing published
