Committee hears evidence from former resident
A former resident of the Knottfield Children’s Home says the legal system has failed those who were victims of abuse there.
The facility, the residential arm of which was closed in 1983, was situated on Woodbourne Road in Douglas.
Ms Christine Urquhart, a resident from 1978-1982, gave oral evidence to the Social Affairs Policy Review Committee at the Legislative Buildings in Douglas this morning (Thurs 3).
Ms Urquhart asked why still, 35 or more years on, justice hasn’t been done.
Committee chairman, David Cretney, said he believed Mrs Urquart's claims - but due process had to be observed.
