Conservation zones in force from November
A number of measures are being introduced to combat over-fishing off the Island's coast.
Five new three-mile 'conservation zones' - where the commercial fishing of king scallops will be prohibited - are being implemented from 1 November.
It's part of a move by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture to protect the marine population against aggressive trawl and dredge fishing - while still allowing for leisure activities such as small-scale crab and lobster potting.
Director of Fisheries Karen McArg says it won't discriminate against fishing vessels based on their nationality:
