Legislation spells out 2050 reduction target
It's the last day to have your say on a bill which is described as 'fundamental' to government plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.
A consultation on the Climate Change Bill ends at the close of business today (1 Sep).
The legislation sets out the 2050 target for greenhouse gas reduction, along with interim goals, and requires government to spell out how it will achieve this.
If passed, it will also usher in new powers to help deliver zero emissions, amend existing laws, and make it a duty for public bodies to help achieve the target.
