Manx Utilities warns the weather is cutting it fine for the current population
It's been revealed the Isle of Man uses 29million litres of water per day on average but recent heatwaves have seen that figure surge to 40million.
As a result, a hosepipe ban was announced and still remains in place.
In 2002, Brenda Cannell told Tynwald a report suggested the Island's water infrastructure was only able to sustain a population of 90,000 people.
Meanwhile, a financial plan unveiled in July this year, highlighted the government's intention to grow the population to 100,000 by 2037.
