Howard Quayle responds to IOM Bank closures
The chief minister has described the pending closure of the Castletown and Peel Isle of Man Bank branches, and loss of jobs, as "extremely unwelcome news".
Owners RBS International announced this morning the two outlets will shut on 7 January 2021.
Howard Quayle points to a recent visit to the Peel branch "when it appeared to be be well-used by the community".
He understands businesses need to adjust to changing circumstances, but says people in the west of the Island will soon have to travel nearly 12 miles to use banking services.
Mr Quayle says support to staff losing their jobs will be available from officers at the Job Centre.
