Resolution initiative to draw attention to rights
Cohabiting couples don't have the same rights as married couples, and may face lengthy, personal and 'messy' legal battles should their relationship sour.
That's according to a director of Advocates Smith Taubitz Unsworth Limited, Hazel Smith.
Today (27) is the start of 'Co-Habitation Awareness Week' - a campaign by an organisation of Family Lawyers called Resolution to draw attention to the differences in rights between married couples and those living together.
MHKs, MLCs, and local authority members have been invited to Advocates Smith Taubitz Unsworth Limited to discuss cohabitees rights as part of the initiative.
Mrs Smith says ensuring couples are aware of their rights is key:
Three-month wait for state pension forecast statements
OFT to investigate possible regulation of funeral directors
