Pup tumbles into breakwater hole
Douglas Coastguard has helped rescue a seal pup stranded in a six foot deep hole between blocks on Douglas breakwater.
The team was called out yesterday afternoon (27 Dec) along with an MSPCA expert to check the seal, which appeared stranded.
Coastguards returned to base believing the pup was safe, but were called out again by a member of the public, after the seal pup fell into a hole in the blocks on its way back to the water.
The team says it carried out a difficult operation to rescue the animal in poor weather and fading light, eventually returning the seal to open water, none the worse for wear.
On Boxing Day the Douglas team rescued a dog from cliffs on Marine Drive.
