Mansfield wants village to be a destination
A Malew commissioner is hoping to transform Ballasalla train station, in a bid to turn the village into a 'go-to destination, rather than 'a drive-thru'.
Margaret Mansfield is on a mission to beautify the stop along the Isle of Man Railway for the benefit of both tourists and locals.
The station was rebuilt in 1985 after the original wooden structure from 1874 was demolished.
It's Mrs Mansfield's hope that a rejuvenated site will encourage people to get off and visit Malew's attractions, such as Silverdale Glen and Rushen Abbey.
She explained the initiative to Local Democracy Reporter Ewan Gawne:
