Ratepayers warned to expect rate hikes in New Year
Some local authorities on the Isle of Man are warning that they may have to scale back services next year as they battle with increasing costs.
Braddan, Castletown, Douglas, Port St Mary and Port Erin are warning that ‘high levels of rate increases are unavoidable’.
It’s being blamed on inflationary pressures, public sector pay awards and rising energy costs – as well as hikes in domestic waste disposal fees.
