
A Manx firm is storming ahead with an attempt to crowdfund a cutting edge smartphone – raising four million dollars in a matter of days.
Douglas-based Canonical Software is trying to raise more than $32 million through the indiegogo crowdfunding website to create the Ubuntu Edge.
The phone would run both Canonical’s Ubuntu Linux as well as Android, and would incorporate a number of hi-tech features.
Canonical’s founder, Santon billionaire Mark Shuttleworth, says the aim is to produce something light-years ahead of the competition.
