44 years as musical director of Onchan Silver Band
Supporters of brass band music in the Island are being invited to remember one of their own.
A celebration concert in memory of Gordon Astill, who passed away last year at the age of 83, will be held at Bemahague School at 2pm on Sunday.
He was musical director of Onchan Silver Band for 44 years and long-time organist at St Peter’s Church.
It’s free to attend.
Concert co-ordinator Grant Taylor said Mr Astill was held in high regard and dedicated much of his life to teaching young people to play instruments:
