Conditional discharge for man who is told 'stay away from your neighbour'

33-year-old admits using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour

A Ramsey man has been ordered to stay away from his neighbour after verbally abusing him.

Daniel James Fenton was captured on CCTV using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on Gladstone Avenue on 8 March.

At Douglas Courthouse the 33-year-old admitted the offence – the court heard there had been a ‘long running dispute’ between the two men who live on the same street.

Fenton began swearing at the man, who was inside his home, at 11.30am – the prosecutor told the court the language was ‘heavy’ and he’d threatened: “Come and face me.”

Handing Fenton a 12-month conditional discharge, and ordering him to pay £50 in prosecution costs, Magistrates described it as a ‘rather unpleasant incident’.

Addressing him in the dock they added: “Hopefully we will not see you in here again. We can see you are not happy with one of your neighbours – just stay away!”
