MHK questions minister's assertion
Confidentiality clauses in contracts between government and outside agencies do not always provide taxpayers with value for money.
That is the view of Onchan MHK Julie Edge who is urging the Treasury to assess the position.
Minister Alfred Cannan this week told the House of Keys certain information needed to stay private, including in cases where disclosure could give parties a trading advantage.
However, Ms Edge says there should not be confidential clauses inserted when contracts solely involve taxpayers’ money.
